The balconied gallery adds a second story of windows to the ballroom, allowing for natural light on three sides. The railings are adapted from ironwork in a Burgundy chateau.

The house’s central hallway offers a clear vista to the gardens. As an extension of the grand entrance, this space is lined in stucpierre that is meant to resemble the limestone on the exterior.

The lady’s bedroom is part of a large master suite in the Upper East wing. The connecting architecture is fully detailed, using graceful, slender paneling, with classical floral and ribbon-and-reed motifs. The special feature of the suite is its unique, fine, silver-metallic accenting.

The fanciful kitchen and family breakfast room began with the use of black, gold, and mirror, in the spirit of Coco Chanel. Gold leaf and polished brass banding echo the brasswork on the traditional French range. Steel frame doors and windows lend a vintage conservatory feeling.

Chateau des Fleurs is an extraordinary book documenting the creation of one of the most unique and exquisite private houses built in Los Angeles in recent years. Inspired by classic French chateaux, the Chateau des Fleurs is a contemporary house galvanized by iconic French locations like the Loire Valley and the historical Burgundy. Readers follow the journey of the meticulous craftsmanship from conception to completion that spanned nearly a decade and resulted in a Hollywood dream come true. Currently the largest home in Los Angeles to date, the chateau measures more than 60,000 square feet. Chateau des Fleurs is a historical document for those who are interested in architecture, history, and for those who dream of beautiful and unusual homes.
